Doing Good Without Fear Or Terror

By Janelle Hill

Because we are not vessels of headship sight and direction, the future can be a fearful, dark place for us. When our husbands (or headship in the Body) comes to us with a direction for us personally, our family, or our children, we can be quite fearful about the outcome. We may try to ‘submit’ to this word because it is the right thing to do, but we soon find that there is no power to really live this way. Either we become overwhelmed and frozen by fear, or we become angry and try to tell our husbands what to do with their directional advice, or we say all the right things and then keep on doing things own way. Clearly, submission for ‘submission’s sake’ is not going to work, but Sarah’s testimony to us can help us with this issue. Knowing God, trusting God, and receiving the life of God is the only way by which we can learn submission. God has given us strengths and skills to be vessels of multiplication. Together with our husbands and the Body, we are co-heirs together of the grace of life. Together we can see the life of God multiplied to others and to our families

Further Study:

1 Peter 3:5-7 For so once indeed the holy women hoping in God adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands; as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose daughters you are, if you do good and are not afraid with any terror. Likewise, husbands, live together according to knowledge, giving honor to the wife as to the weaker vessel, as truly being co-heirs together of the grace of life.

Proverbs 31:10-31 Who can find a woman of virtue? For her value is far above rubies. The heart of her husband trusts safely in her She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. . She binds her loins with strength, and makes her arms strong.
